Train of Loneliness
Riley Lincoln
West Palm Beach, Fla
July 2012
The snow, it was snowin'
The wind, it was blowin'
I walked ten miles
Down the old muddy trail
To get to the old railroad track
To see the Train of Lonliness comin' back
It's a long train all draped in black
It's carrying broken hearts, broken dreams
And love that's gone bad
There...Look, I see a real dim light
I think it's the Train of Loneliness
Coming through the night
I'm gonna jump back and hide behind a tree
Wait and see whatever I can see
I peered from behind the tree
Through the wind and snow
The first cars were cars of broken hearts
And tears were all aflow
The demons that caused the broken hearts
Were all in the possum belly down below
Lies, broken promises, cheaters, and whiskey
...all the demons of sin
To the broken hearts it was coming to an end
The Train of Loneliness
Was taking them
To the golden meadow of happiness
The next train cars were carrying
A load of broken dreams
Dreams that faded and
Drifted down the stream
Dreams that never would come true
Maybe dreams about me and you
Dreams are as important as life itself
But a broken dream can never come true
The broken dreams are going to the land
Of sky blue waters and fluffy white clouds
And lots of golden sands
Down in happiness land
The last cars were carrying a load
Of love that's gone bad
It was caused by cheaters
And the bright neon lights
It makes everyone sad
When love goes bad
They will go to the beautiful
Forest of green
Where happiness is the only thing
That's ever seen
As the train went by
I began to wonder why
Why broken hearts and broken dreams
and love gone bad
Destroys so many lives...
So I better hurry back to you
And show my love for you is true
I don't wanna ride
The Train of Loneliness
I'm on my way home
To be with you
