Railroad Knowledge Everyone Should Know
Just a Time In the Past

When I'm gone will you
Still hear Hank on a late
Moonlit night. Will you
Hear that old train
Whistle blow
If you do, you will know
Somewhere I'm down the line
And I'm doing fine
Just me and Waylon
Sitting by the water tank
Singing "Your long gone Daddy
Ain't a-coming back"
When you hear the cold wind blow
Will you know me and Dylan is laid back
In the snow
Our noses all aglow
Listen close, you can
Hear the whiskey flow
Johnny Cash has been everywhere
But he ain't been here
But he's on his way
I can see that "Orange Blossom Special"
Plowing through the snow
At about ten below
It's just a time in the past
And it will always last
But don't go too fast
The great trains will always be here
You can see them every night
Around about midnight
When the stars shine really bright
They are all here...
The Wabash Cannonball
Night Train to Memphis
Old 97
Tennessee #9
They are parked all around
They are quiet with no sound
This is the graveyard
Of old trains
The crews still live in the cab
Gentle rain falls from the heavens
To keep them sparkling clean
Most beautiful sight I ever seen
When I'm gone will you still hear Hank
On a late moonlit night
Just a time in the past
