                   Mexican Mouthwash Blues Band

Riley Lincoln
West Palm Beach FL
August 2012

It was a stormy Austin Saturday night
When I decided to hang my life
On an old Fender guitar, life looked bright
I was gonna start pickin' at the
Evil Monkey saloon, a blues club down on Fifth
I was going to do my blues riff
I was gonna put rock and roll
  Back into the blues
With my old Fender
There was nothing I couldn't do
That old guitar knew the blues

Say, give me and the band double shots
  Of that "Mexican Mouthwash" booze
After all, I'm wearing Carl's old blue suede shoes

The blues singer...she was real good
  She wasn't a good looker
She was a broken down hooker
  She was down in jail
And I just went her bail
This band really knows the blues
One of them wasn't wearing any shoes

Set up me and the band with doubles
  Of that "Mexican Mouthwash" booze
I'm still wearing Carl's old blue suede shoes
Oh, that band could play the blues
Hey, set me and the band up a few more
  Of that "Mexican Mouthwash" booze
                 I have the blues

The drummer had a wooden pirate's leg
At times he would rear back
And beat the drums with his wooden leg
It was better than a Lone Star keg
The crowd would go wild
  He was a blues child
I love those blues

Set me and the band up a few more
  Of that "Mexican Mouthwash" booze
'Cause I love the blues

The piano player pounded the keys so hard
That they flew up in the air
And would land in the lard
The lard was for makin' Mexican refried beans
A big blue haze hung over the scene
            I love those blues

Set me and the band up a few more
  Of that"Mexican Mouthwash" booze
I want me and the band to play the blues

The horn player didn't have any lips
  He would gum that horn
He was a natural-born
Blues won't ne blues without his horn
They called him "Lips"
Oh how I  love the blues

Say barkeep, set me and the band up with more
  Of that "Mexican Mouthwash" booze
            I love the blues

I got ready to take the stafge with my Fender
I was on a real bender
I put my gloves on, knew the Fender
Was gonna get hot and turn to cinder
We played every blues song in life's folder
At exactly 3:00 we all tipped over
