Northern Star

The big iron beast
Is coming down the track
I guess it's time for me
To start heading back
The sun is high in the sky
I guess it's time to say goodbye
Darkness will be coming soon
Then, in a while, a full moon
The snow will shine real bright
All the stars will shine tonight
Look for the Northern Star
It's a long way afar
I don't know why it's called me
But I gotta go and see
Will put my life in a paper sack
Catch a moonbeam and head on back
The Northern Star is where I'm going
For some reason I gotta make a showing
As I stand here looking high up above
I know I gotta leave my love
But a man can't miss his callin'
And for sure you can't be late
When it's your turn
To step up to the plate
Now as the darkness creeps over the mountains
I will get ready for one last trip
The venture of my life
Has a very high price
But only a few are willing
To make the sacrifice
But as I was looking up at the Northern Star
I realize tis is where my loving pets are
My dogs, my cats, my pig
My birds, my turtle, and my lizard
They want me to come and party
And be together
The Northern Star
