                                            I'm the One

Riley Lincoln

I'm all the songs that I have heard
I'm all the songs that I have learned
I'm all the people I have met
I'm all the marks whose money I have spent
I'm all the women that believed
I'm all the women I deceived
I'm all the cities I have played
I'm all the countries I have stayed
I'm all the show lots in the rain
I'm one of the charter members
Of the carnival "Hall of Shame"

I'm the one outside of Montgomery that night
When Hank Williams saw the Light
I'm the one the was there when
Levon pulled into Nazareth half dead
Looking for a bed for his head
I'm the one standing outside Sun Records
I'm the one to hear Elvis hummin' "that's all
right momma" as he walked in
I'm the one to hear Jerry Lee do "Whole lot
of shaken'" as his wild life was to begin
I'm the one who heard Johnny Cash say how
"I Walk the Line"…I believed it in my heart
And in two weeks it topped the charts
I'm the one to see Carl Perkins
Kick up his blue suede shoes
Two weeks later I bought my suedes of blue

I'm the one whose seen them all walk in
I'm the one that was there
When Rock and Roll began

I'm Moon Mullican
and I will sail my ship alone
I'm the one who brought it home
