                    Springtime Carnival Poem

Well the first of April is here again
    Winter's almost through
Now comes springtime with promises
Of a season bright and new

The weather's crisp and breezy
    Where just a week ago
They suffered through the twenties
    Beneath an inch of snow

This time of year we're always broke
And I think about last fall
When a couple thousand in my pocket
    Was nothing much at all

Oh, we really loved Palm Beach
Having fun, going everywhere and laying back
But we would give almost anything
    To have our money back

Now we're headed back to Michigan
    To open up the show
We'll find ourselves  last on the left
    Down on "flat store" row

Oh well, we'll have each other
    The winter's nearly done
And the times ahead look pretty good
Though most of our money is gone

Next year we'll save all of our money
So we won't be springtime poor
But pardon us for laughing
'Cause we've said it all before
