Dedicated to my wife for 52 years

                 JUST YOU AND ME

Riley Lincoln
West Palm Beach, FL
April 2012

Take me down to the ocean
Put me on that big ship
Send me out to sea
  But don't forget me
Because I will catch me a ride
On a big fish and before you know
I will be back with you
So we can live our whole life through

Because you're the one
  With whom I wanna be
Just you and me
  Just you and me

You can take me down to that old airport
And put me on that super-liner plane
Send me to that wild blue
  But don't forget me
I'll catch a big, flying bird
And I'll be back with you
So we can live our whole life through

Because you're the one
  With whom I wanna be
Just you and me
  Just you and me

You can take me down to the old railroad yard
Put me on that old cannon ball headin' south
But don't forget me
Because I Will catch "Old 97" headin' north
And, before you know
I will be back with you
So we can live our whole life through

Because you're the one
  With whom I wanna be
Just you and me
  Just you and me

You can tie me to a horse
And run me out of town
But don't forget me
Because that old horse won't go too far
Before he turns around
Then I'll be back with you
So we can live our whole life through

Because you're the one
  With whom I wanna be
Just you and me
  Just you and me

So don't send me away
Because no matter what you see
You can't get rid of me
  So don't forget me
'Cause I'll always be with you
So we can live our whole life through

Because you're the one
  With whom I wanna be
Just you and me
  Just you and me

Just you and me!

                    China and Chyna Marie

Riley Lincoln
West Palm Beach FL
October 2012

Hey Levon, just you and me and Chyna Marie
Are going to fly away to the great China Sea
Because I'm the great arctic snow butterfly
And I know how to fly real high
When we get to the China Sea
Then we will fly into beautiful China...
                         ,,,just us three
And we will land on the Great Wall
We got to be careful so we don't fall
Then we will ride bicycles
To see your Nana and your Grandpa
Because I'm the great arctic snow butterfly
And I can fly real high
We will all eat a big cherry pie
And we will pound on the really big Chinese gong
And play Chinese music all day long
  Then we will say goodbye
And fly away into the sky
We will fly back home to Okeechobee
Just Levon and me and you, Chyna Marie
  We'll show Daddy and Mommy
How good we can be
Because I'm the great arctic snow butterfly
And I can fly real high

              Searching

Nov 2014

At midnight with the stars and moon your only light
Have you ever walked out into the ocean
With a warm breeze blowing you out to sea
  Looking with your heart
For someone you know is far apart

At midnight with the stars and moon your only light
Have you ever skied down a mountain slope
Searching every snowbank in sight
Looking in the shadows of the night
For someone there just might

At midnight with the stars and moon your only light
Have you ever wandered into a forest
With the wind howling all around
And giant ferns and wildflowers covering all the ground
Your heart looking behind each tree
Hoping there is someone to see

At midnight with the moon and stars your only light
  Have you ever walked barefoot
Across the hot shifting, drifting desert sands
Under the moon behind a sand dune
Hoping for someone soon

At midnight with the moon and stars your only light
Have you ever flown a sky glider
Thru the whispery clouds with no sound
Looking thru each cloud for anyone to be found

Do you still remember what I told you
  Way back in year '02
That I will always keep searching for you
Because my love for you is true
So some night at midnight under the stars and moonlight
I will find you and hold you real tight

                                           Your Man

Who put the snow on the mountain
Who put the grass on the hills
Who put the fish in the ocean
And who introduced me to you

Who put the stars in the sky
Who makes the moon shine down
Who drops the raindrops all around
And who introduced me to you

Who makes the beautiful rainbows in the sky
Who makes the pretty clouds float by
Who makes our beautiful angels fly
And who introduced me to you, and why

Who makes the wind blow
  Who makes the pretty snow
Who makes the ice freeze
Who makes a warm summer breeze
Who puts the pelicans in the bay
  Who makes winter go away

Now he is making us say "good-bye"
But soon we will get to hold hands and figure out why
While the pure white doves will fly by
Because we are going to be together
In the sweet bye and bye

                  see you soon

             She's Gone Away Blues

Riley Lincoln
West Palm Beach, FL
July 2012

She don't belong to you
  She don't belong to you
You can't hold here real tight
You can't hold her real tight tonight
She's in another man's arms
And he is holding her real tight
You can't hold her real tight tonight
  She's gone away
She's gone away
She won't be back another day
She's gone away to stay
  You have lost your play
She's gone real far away

A little man wearing a big hat took her away
He was big and fat in a little hat
And he took her away
I think they're heading for Santa Fe
She don't belong to you anymore
She don't belong to you anymore
She wasn't the sharpest spoon in the drawer
  But she was your spoon
No more hugging under the moon
  She's gone away
She's gone away
Like the big bird in the sky
She flew away

She's nesting in someone else's nest tonight
  She's in someone else's nest
The fat man's holding her real tight
  Under that vampire moon tonight
She's not yours anymore
  She's gone away

She's not yours anymore
She's gone away with a little man in a big hat
And he's wearing a big money belt
  That makes him look fat
She's gone away

Note: Big money belts always win

                  THE LONESOME BLUES TRAIN

Riley Lincoln
West Palm Beach, FL
Sept 2012

Listen to that lonesome blues whistle blowing
It says this train is going
It's eating up the track
Listen to that lonesome blues whistle blowing
You know where the train is going
  And she's never coming back

You can't go down the track
  And bring her back
There ain't no track
  And she's never coming back
That old train is whistling the blues
Blues that are only meant for you

Look down at the ties
  Look down at the track
She ain't never coming back
  Learn about the blues
They were made special for you
  You've dug your hole
This is where you're gonna go
If you can't forget that "ho"

It's not about right or wrong
  It's not about this song
It's about sometimes you gotta pay the price
Being true won't stop the train
The whole world's insane
  You're on the insane train
Going across the plain

Listen to that lonesome blues whistle blow
  And think of the "Ho"
What does this mean
Don't ride the lonesome blues train
Try taking  the bus, save your soul
  Do some rock and roll

This ain't the end
  The beginning's the end
The middle is where it all began
The middle is always the end
That's where it all begins

Take the rock and roll blues train
It will stop you from going insane
Then stand a long time in the rain
  Feel that blues train rain
It will change your brain
Remember to stay in the right lane
The left lane gets all the rain

Blues whistles and blues trains will make you insane
                    Stay out of the rain

True original birthday songs

                             The Bear

Riley Lincoln
West Palm Beach, FL
July 2012

BIRTHDAY PARTY ONE
It's my first birthday party
And I'm going to invite the bear
The bear came in through the door
  Beautiful brown hair aflow
He walked over to the table
  Then ate the whole cake
And ate all the frosting too
Then the bear ate the chair
The bear ate the whole chair
  This was a bad bear

BIRTHDAY PARTY TWO
It's my second birthday party
And I'm going to invite the bear
The bear came in through the door
  Beautiful brown hair aflow
He walked over to the table
  Then ate the whole cake
And ate all the frosting too
Then the bear ate the chair
The bear ate the whole chair
  This was a bad bear

BIRTHDAY PARTIES THREE, FOUR, FIVE, SIX

                  42nd Street

Riley Lincoln
West Palm Beach, FL
May 2012

Thrills, chills, hundred dollar bills
  Bright neon lights
Things are right
  On 42nd Street tonight
Stars start to come into sight
And there will be plenty of
Falling stars tonight
You can feel the pulse of 42nd Street
Pounding through your body
From your head down to your feet
The sparkle in her eyes
  As the white powder flies
The love that 42nd Street shows
As long as the dollar bills flow
Along about daylight
  The devil will come and
Pick up all the trash
Then the beautiful sun will shine down
As 42nd Street starts getting
  Ready for another round
Winter is coming soon to 42nd Street
It will be cold, snow and sleet
But it will be hot inside on 42nd Street
Hustlers, drifters, and grifters will be waiting inside
They will talk, whisper, slap you on the back
And soon your hundred dollar bills they will find
Then you will be thrown out on the street
There will be plenty of snow, wind, cold and sleet
Oh, how beautiful it is on 42nd Street
  If I were you, friend
I would take the old 42nd Street advice
  Go home, never come back
You are a little slack

(written for all 42nd Street players)

           Broken Down Trucker's Blues

Riley Lincoln
West Palm Beach, FL
July 2012

(Sing in sorrowful voice)
I'm broken down south of Memphis
  And won't be home tonight
Got the old trucker's blues
  And that's just not right

(regular voice)
Gonna coast into that old roadhouse
Gonna find that man who can turn the wrenches tight

(sorrowful)
I'm broken down south of Memphis
  And won't be home tonight
Got the old trucker's blues
  And that's just not right

(regular)
Walked through the door, what a beautiful sght
She had blond hair, blue eyes
And her skirt was up high and real tight
She whispered in my ear, "I wanna be yours tonight"

(happy)
Oh-h-h I'm broken down south of Memphis
  And won't be home tonight
Got those broken down trucker's blues
  And that's just not right

(regular)
I walked further down the bar
And there was the most beautiful girl by far
She was wearing short shorts, a beautiful brunette
She whispered in my ear "for you I'd be easy to get"

(happy)
Oh-h-h I'm broken down south of Memphis
  And won't be home tonight
Got those broken down trucker's blues
  And that's just not right

(regular)
Wandered down by the juke box in back
She had on a tight dress, all in black
She had beautiful red hair
She whispered in my ear, "I'll give you a ride
You won't find at the county fair"

(happy)
Oh-h-h I'm broken down south of Memphis
  And won't be home tonight
Got those broken down trucker's blues
And that;s just not good news

(regular)
After three days in the roadhouse
Searching for the man that would turn the wrench
I found him in the corner sittin; on a bench
He said "I'll take a look" and walked out the door
In ten minutes he came back and said "Same as before
  ....You're out of fuel"
O-h-h I'm broken down south of Memphis
  But comin' home tonight.

True Story of Rock & Roll in Detroit City

                                Rock & Roll

Riley Lincoln
West Palm Beach, FL
February 2015

The darkness settled over the city
  The bright lights came aglow
On the bandstand the band was hammering
Out the sounds of old time rock & roll
At the bar whiskey and cocaine began to flow
  The crowd whooped it up
Then yelled for more
A man carrying a bag of money
With a knife stuck in his back
  Walked in the door
Fell dead upon the dnce room floor
A fat lady stood him up
And danced him off the dance floor
Propped him up on a barstool
And walked the bag of money over
To the bartender who was no fool
He was a little man, bug black 'stache
  Usually covered with drool
Some white powder too
  He whirled around and hollered
Drinks are on the house
And let's start with that hooch
Up there on the top shelf
  And doubles for the band
And let's all go to rock & roll land
  The band out of Mobile
Was named "Aunt Flow"
The band hit it hard and began to play
The building trembled
  "Aunt Flow" was flowin'
Rock & roll was rollin'

Every time the barkeep
Hollered "Set 'em up on the house"
He would reach in the bag of money
Transfer the money to the register
A man of honesty
After about five or six hours
The bag of money went empty
  The barkeep looked around
Seeing the stiff propped up on the stool
Is the only thing he found
The barman hollered "Throw him out!
He ain't spent a cent all night
We don't allow brokes to take up space"
Two big "heavies" came over, picked
The stiff up
And threw him out into the street
A big eighteen-wheeler came by
  And ran over his feet
An old rusty car ran over his hand
  Smashed his wedding band

The sun was starting to come up
Daylight was slowly coming to the city
Hookers were running so not to get
Daylight on them, rats were close behind
"Aunt Flow" was heading for the door
Rock & roll wasn't playin' any more
Another fun night in thye city
  Was passing by
But if you ever get a chance
To hear the band "Aunt Flow"
They are a hell of a band
  Don't miss them
See you, gotta go
