Dedicated to my wife for 52 years

                 JUST YOU AND ME

Riley Lincoln
West Palm Beach, FL
April 2012

Take me down to the ocean
Put me on that big ship
Send me out to sea
  But don't forget me
Because I will catch me a ride
On a big fish and before you know
I will be back with you
So we can live our whole life through

Because you're the one
  With whom I wanna be
Just you and me
  Just you and me

You can take me down to that old airport
And put me on that super-liner plane
Send me to that wild blue
  But don't forget me
I'll catch a big, flying bird
And I'll be back with you
So we can live our whole life through

Because you're the one
  With whom I wanna be
Just you and me
  Just you and me

You can take me down to the old railroad yard
Put me on that old cannon ball headin' south
But don't forget me
Because I Will catch "Old 97" headin' north
And, before you know
I will be back with you
So we can live our whole life through

Because you're the one
  With whom I wanna be
Just you and me
  Just you and me

You can tie me to a horse
And run me out of town
But don't forget me
Because that old horse won't go too far
Before he turns around
Then I'll be back with you
So we can live our whole life through

Because you're the one
  With whom I wanna be
Just you and me
  Just you and me

So don't send me away
Because no matter what you see
You can't get rid of me
  So don't forget me
'Cause I'll always be with you
So we can live our whole life through

Because you're the one
  With whom I wanna be
Just you and me
  Just you and me

Just you and me!

                    China and Chyna Marie

Riley Lincoln
West Palm Beach FL
October 2012

Hey Levon, just you and me and Chyna Marie
Are going to fly away to the great China Sea
Because I'm the great arctic snow butterfly
And I know how to fly real high
When we get to the China Sea
Then we will fly into beautiful China...
                         ,,,just us three
And we will land on the Great Wall
We got to be careful so we don't fall
Then we will ride bicycles
To see your Nana and your Grandpa
Because I'm the great arctic snow butterfly
And I can fly real high
We will all eat a big cherry pie
And we will pound on the really big Chinese gong
And play Chinese music all day long
  Then we will say goodbye
And fly away into the sky
We will fly back home to Okeechobee
Just Levon and me and you, Chyna Marie
  We'll show Daddy and Mommy
How good we can be
Because I'm the great arctic snow butterfly
And I can fly real high

              Searching

Riley Lincoln

Nov 2014

At midnight with the stars and moon your only light
Have you ever walked out into the ocean
With a warm breeze blowing you out to sea
  Looking with your heart
For someone you know is far apart

At midnight with the stars and moon your only light
Have you ever skied down a mountain slope
Searching every snowbank in sight
Looking in the shadows of the night
For someone there just might

At midnight with the stars and moon your only light
Have you ever wandered into a forest
With the wind howling all around
And giant ferns and wildflowers covering all the ground
Your heart looking behind each tree
Hoping there is someone to see

At midnight with the moon and stars your only light
  Have you ever walked barefoot
Across the hot shifting, drifting desert sands
Under the moon behind a sand dune
Hoping for someone soon

At midnight with the moon and stars your only light
Have you ever flown a sky glider
Thru the whispery clouds with no sound
Looking thru each cloud for anyone to be found

Do you still remember what I told you
  Way back in year '02
That I will always keep searching for you
Because my love for you is true
So some night at midnight under the stars and moonlight
I will find you and hold you real tight

                                           Your Man

Who put the snow on the mountain
Who put the grass on the hills
Who put the fish in the ocean
And who introduced me to you

Who put the stars in the sky
Who makes the moon shine down
Who drops the raindrops all around
And who introduced me to you

Who makes the beautiful rainbows in the sky
Who makes the pretty clouds float by
Who makes our beautiful angels fly
And who introduced me to you, and why

Who makes the wind blow
  Who makes the pretty snow
Who makes the ice freeze
Who makes a warm summer breeze
Who puts the pelicans in the bay
  Who makes winter go away

Now he is making us say "good-bye"
But soon we will get to hold hands and figure out why
While the pure white doves will fly by
Because we are going to be together
In the sweet bye and bye

                  see you soon

             She's Gone Away Blues

Riley Lincoln
West Palm Beach, FL
July 2012

She don't belong to you
  She don't belong to you
You can't hold here real tight
You can't hold her real tight tonight
She's in another man's arms
And he is holding her real tight
You can't hold her real tight tonight
  She's gone away
She's gone away
She won't be back another day
She's gone away to stay
  You have lost your play
She's gone real far away

A little man wearing a big hat took her away
He was big and fat in a little hat
And he took her away
I think they're heading for Santa Fe
She don't belong to you anymore
She don't belong to you anymore
She wasn't the sharpest spoon in the drawer
  But she was your spoon
No more hugging under the moon
  She's gone away
She's gone away
Like the big bird in the sky
She flew away

She's nesting in someone else's nest tonight
  She's in someone else's nest
The fat man's holding her real tight
  Under that vampire moon tonight
She's not yours anymore
  She's gone away

She's not yours anymore
She's gone away with a little man in a big hat
And he's wearing a big money belt
  That makes him look fat
She's gone away

Note: Big money belts always win

                  THE LONESOME BLUES TRAIN

Riley Lincoln
West Palm Beach, FL
Sept 2012

Listen to that lonesome blues whistle blowing
It says this train is going
It's eating up the track
Listen to that lonesome blues whistle blowing
You know where the train is going
  And she's never coming back

You can't go down the track
  And bring her back
There ain't no track
  And she's never coming back
That old train is whistling the blues
Blues that are only meant for you

Look down at the ties
  Look down at the track
She ain't never coming back
  Learn about the blues
They were made special for you
  You've dug your hole
This is where you're gonna go
If you can't forget that "ho"

It's not about right or wrong
  It's not about this song
It's about sometimes you gotta pay the price
Being true won't stop the train
The whole world's insane
  You're on the insane train
Going across the plain

Listen to that lonesome blues whistle blow
  And think of the "Ho"
What does this mean
Don't ride the lonesome blues train
Try taking  the bus, save your soul
  Do some rock and roll

This ain't the end
  The beginning's the end
The middle is where it all began
The middle is always the end
That's where it all begins

Take the rock and roll blues train
It will stop you from going insane
Then stand a long time in the rain
  Feel that blues train rain
It will change your brain
Remember to stay in the right lane
The left lane gets all the rain

Blues whistles and blues trains will make you insane
                    Stay out of the rain

True original birthday songs

                             The Bear

Riley Lincoln
West Palm Beach, FL
July 2012

BIRTHDAY PARTY ONE
It's my first birthday party
And I'm going to invite the bear
The bear came in through the door
  Beautiful brown hair aflow
He walked over to the table
  Then ate the whole cake
And ate all the frosting too
Then the bear ate the chair
The bear ate the whole chair
  This was a bad bear

BIRTHDAY PARTY TWO
It's my second birthday party
And I'm going to invite the bear
The bear came in through the door
  Beautiful brown hair aflow
He walked over to the table
  Then ate the whole cake
And ate all the frosting too
Then the bear ate the chair
The bear ate the whole chair
  This was a bad bear

BIRTHDAY PARTIES THREE, FOUR, FIVE, SIX

                  42nd Street

Riley Lincoln
West Palm Beach, FL
May 2012

Thrills, chills, hundred dollar bills
  Bright neon lights
Things are right
  On 42nd Street tonight
Stars start to come into sight
And there will be plenty of
Falling stars tonight
You can feel the pulse of 42nd Street
Pounding through your body
From your head down to your feet
The sparkle in her eyes
  As the white powder flies
The love that 42nd Street shows
As long as the dollar bills flow
Along about daylight
  The devil will come and
Pick up all the trash
Then the beautiful sun will shine down
As 42nd Street starts getting
  Ready for another round
Winter is coming soon to 42nd Street
It will be cold, snow and sleet
But it will be hot inside on 42nd Street
Hustlers, drifters, and grifters will be waiting inside
They will talk, whisper, slap you on the back
And soon your hundred dollar bills they will find
Then you will be thrown out on the street
There will be plenty of snow, wind, cold and sleet
Oh, how beautiful it is on 42nd Street
  If I were you, friend
I would take the old 42nd Street advice
  Go home, never come back
You are a little slack

(written for all 42nd Street players)

           Broken Down Trucker's Blues

Riley Lincoln
West Palm Beach, FL
July 2012

(Sing in sorrowful voice)
I'm broken down south of Memphis
  And won't be home tonight
Got the old trucker's blues
  And that's just not right

(regular voice)
Gonna coast into that old roadhouse
Gonna find that man who can turn the wrenches tight

(sorrowful)
I'm broken down south of Memphis
  And won't be home tonight
Got the old trucker's blues
  And that's just not right

(regular)
Walked through the door, what a beautiful sght
She had blond hair, blue eyes
And her skirt was up high and real tight
She whispered in my ear, "I wanna be yours tonight"

(happy)
Oh-h-h I'm broken down south of Memphis
  And won't be home tonight
Got those broken down trucker's blues
  And that's just not right

(regular)
I walked further down the bar
And there was the most beautiful girl by far
She was wearing short shorts, a beautiful brunette
She whispered in my ear "for you I'd be easy to get"

(happy)
Oh-h-h I'm broken down south of Memphis
  And won't be home tonight
Got those broken down trucker's blues
  And that's just not right

(regular)
Wandered down by the juke box in back
She had on a tight dress, all in black
She had beautiful red hair
She whispered in my ear, "I'll give you a ride
You won't find at the county fair"

(happy)
Oh-h-h I'm broken down south of Memphis
  And won't be home tonight
Got those broken down trucker's blues
And that;s just not good news

(regular)
After three days in the roadhouse
Searching for the man that would turn the wrench
I found him in the corner sittin; on a bench
He said "I'll take a look" and walked out the door
In ten minutes he came back and said "Same as before
  ....You're out of fuel"
O-h-h I'm broken down south of Memphis
  But comin' home tonight.

True Story of Rock & Roll in Detroit City

                                Rock & Roll

Riley Lincoln
West Palm Beach, FL
February 2015

The darkness settled over the city
  The bright lights came aglow
On the bandstand the band was hammering
Out the sounds of old time rock & roll
At the bar whiskey and cocaine began to flow
  The crowd whooped it up
Then yelled for more
A man carrying a bag of money
With a knife stuck in his back
  Walked in the door
Fell dead upon the dnce room floor
A fat lady stood him up
And danced him off the dance floor
Propped him up on a barstool
And walked the bag of money over
To the bartender who was no fool
He was a little man, bug black 'stache
  Usually covered with drool
Some white powder too
  He whirled around and hollered
Drinks are on the house
And let's start with that hooch
Up there on the top shelf
  And doubles for the band
And let's all go to rock & roll land
  The band out of Mobile
Was named "Aunt Flow"
The band hit it hard and began to play
The building trembled
  "Aunt Flow" was flowin'
Rock & roll was rollin'

Every time the barkeep
Hollered "Set 'em up on the house"
He would reach in the bag of money
Transfer the money to the register
A man of honesty
After about five or six hours
The bag of money went empty
  The barkeep looked around
Seeing the stiff propped up on the stool
Is the only thing he found
The barman hollered "Throw him out!
He ain't spent a cent all night
We don't allow brokes to take up space"
Two big "heavies" came over, picked
The stiff up
And threw him out into the street
A big eighteen-wheeler came by
  And ran over his feet
An old rusty car ran over his hand
  Smashed his wedding band

The sun was starting to come up
Daylight was slowly coming to the city
Hookers were running so not to get
Daylight on them, rats were close behind
"Aunt Flow" was heading for the door
Rock & roll wasn't playin' any more
Another fun night in thye city
  Was passing by
But if you ever get a chance
To hear the band "Aunt Flow"
They are a hell of a band
  Don't miss them
See you, gotta go

For Cale and Riley -- Summer 2012

      Yesterday's Wind

Riley Lincoln
West Palm Beach, FL
September 2012

Yesterday's wind, yesterday's wind
It can never be used again
You can't sail your boat
  On yesterday's wind
You can only sail on the winds of today
Yesterday's wind pushed us smooth and fast
Today's winds are slow
And make us think of the past

Yesterday's wind, yesterday's wind
You can't sail on yesterday's wind
Today's wind will take you far away
  Yesterday's winds were another day
Yesterday's winds were for fun and play
But yesterday's winds have gone away
And today's winds are not here to stay
Tomorrow's winds will blow another way

Yesterday's winds, yesterday's winds
  Have all gone away
Sometimes it will be a lonesome wind
And the sailboat will go adrift
You will wish you had yesterday's wind
But you can't sail on yesterday's wind
Only the wind you have here today
Will take you on your way

Blow, wind, blow -- blow, wind, blow
Take me far away to another day
I don't need any of that lonesome wind
Don't need that lonesome wind to blow
Today's wind will soon be yesterday's wind
  And tomorrow's wind will blow
One day it will be a cold wind
The cold north wind will blow
You would think it's going to snow

Yesterday's wind, yesterday's wind
Oh how I wish I could sail on yesterday's wind
Maybe tomorrow the Caribbean wind will blow
Then we won't think of yesterday's wind no more
Yesterday's wind, yesterday's wind
When you see the sand and plam trees
You will say 'This sailing is for me'
But remember you can't sail on yesterday's wind
Yesterday's wind, yesterday's wind

                   HAPPY SAILING!

              Rock to the End

Riley Lincoln
West Palm Beach
undated

You can knock me to the ground
Get your daddy's car and run me down
Or have the cops make me leave town

You can lie to me some more
Or you can beg me for more
But I've been down the road before

I will not bend
  Let me under your skin
You gotta rock to the end

Gonna run up town
  Have a look around
'Cause I know that's where you can be found

Come on baby, just say yes
Don't give up, don't try to guess
 Let's loosen that pretty dress

I will not bend
  Gonna get under your skin
Keep rockin' to the end

Under the starlight
  Baby, we'll be rockin' tonight
And the music's just right

Come on girl, tonight's the night
  Under a pale moonlight
If you're nice I just might

I will not bend
  I'm under your skin
We'll rock to the end

True Stories of The Yukon Territory

                                                (Circa 1900)

Loneliness-Wikipedia - - Loneliness is an unpleasant feeling in which a person feels a strong sense of emptiness and solitude resulting from inadequate levels of social relationships.

                       Loneliness in The Yukon

Riley Lincoln
West Palm Beach, Fla
February 2012

In the darkness of a cold Yukon night
With the moon only half bright
Your body shaking with the cold and fright
All you can see is the snow
And the Northern Lights all aglow
The brightness of the Northern Lights
Make the mountains look liker
  They are dancing in delight
You really believe there is gold
  But the lonliness you feel
Makes you wonder why
  Your soul you have sold
Is the loneliness from a half-bright moon
  Really worth nuggets of gold
If only a wolf would howl
  Into the cold, cold night
Maybe it would help maker things right
The loneliness has a grip on my soul
It's making me forget my real goal
  I'm packed in the snow
The wind is starting to blow
  Temperature's more than twenty below
The only warmth I have left is in my heart
Is for the lady I love so much
Down in Plumtree in the state of Tennessee......

If only my dad, Sam McGee
  Hadn't left that map
Laying around for me to see...

I knew the map I should not read
Then I discovered my father had taken the lead
Now the map and thoughts of gold
  Are burned into my brain
When I think of it
  I feel I'm going insane
When I go to sleep at night
And when the north wind blows just right
I hear the Yukon calling me
I left my girl and went to see
To find my gold and bring it back to Tennessee.

This is where the big wind blows
  Colder than man knows
This is where the big gold grows
Through over a thousand miles of mountains and snow
Pine trees and woe

Now the great white silence
  Is getting to me
I don't think I have the will in my soul
  To go anymore
Now here I am buried in the snow
As lonely and cold as a man can be
Instead of being warm with my woman
In Plumtree, down in the state of Tennessee
The curse of this terrible, beautiful place
  The illusion of gold
Laying around on te ground
It may have just been a dream
Maybe it was just to break men's will
Break it 'til it could not
Be broke no more
I'll never get back to Plumtree
With my loved one to be

My time has come, Dad, I'm through
I will try to find the barge on Lake LaMarge
So I can be warm with you

                 Our Love

Riley Lincoln
WPB FL
(undated)

We can build a bridge and burn it down
We can grow a garden and eat from the ground
We can pick up shells and listen to the sound

Just want to take our time
When we drink the midnight wine
Forever you'll be mine

Hold me right now, never let go
Together through this life we'll take it slow
It doesn't get better than this, I know

We can walk love's path by a pale moonlight
We can search the horizon for a songbird in flight
Close my eyes and think of our love, soft as a clear night

Please slow down time and make it last
So we can make every day better than the last
When we love time goes by much too fast

When the midnight train in whining low
It's you I dream of when the cars go by so slow
And when you're away I feel your love-light glow

And when my life is near the end
I'll think of you as my closest friend
And wish this day would never end

I'll look deep into your eyes
And know your love made me wise
We shared so much love there could be no lies

                Hurricane Muff

Riley Lincoln
West Palm Beach, FL
Nov 2012

There will be no stars tonight
"Hurricane Muff" is on its flight
It's gonna come and get here around midnight
  "Hurricane "uff" is coming tonight

"Hurricane Muff" is real mean
Meaner than any hurricane we've ever seen
"Hurricane Muff" is a "Cat B" or more
So you better lock your door

The palm trees better pack up and run
Because for a ferw days there will be no sun
The pretty flowers better go back in the ground
The big bad winds will swirl all around
You better get some rope and stakes
  And tie your house down
You better get lots of long nails
Nail your roof down all around
Because "Hurricane Muff" is coming to town
When it gets done your town won't be found
And the full moon will bring areal surprise
The tide and the water will really rise
                   OFFICIAL END

(Bonus)
She just broke down the door
She is more beautiful than before
Six foot four, blond hair, blue eyes
Wanted to know if I wanted more
I said "Hurricane Muff,
I'll take all I can score!"

                        Farewell Sail

Riley Lincoln
West Palm Beach, FL
July 2012

Gonna go down to the river tonight
Gonna build me a sailboat in the moonlight
Gonna say "farewell" and sail out of sight
Gonna go down to the river tonight

Gonna build me a sailboat
When the sun comes up I'll be afloat
Will sail down the river to Mobile Bay
Gonna sail to the little island far away

Gonna go down to the river tonight
Gonna build me a sailboat in the moonlight
Gonna say "farewell" and sail out of sight
Gonna go down to the River tonight

Gonna sail down around the "Keys"
Gonna feel that warm Caribbean breeze
I'll wave at Cuber on the right
Heading east in the beautiful moonlight

Gonna go down to the river tonight
Gonna build me a sailboat in the moonlight
Gonna say "farewell" and sail out of sight
Gonna go down to the river tonight

Gonna go where the ghosts of pirates roam
Where the secrets of the Triangle are known
Where the falling stars fall
And the stairway of moonbeams is open to all

Gonna go down to the river tonight
Gonna build me a sailboat in the moonlight
Gonna say "farewell" and sail out of sight
Gonna go down to the river tonight

Gonna go where the rainbows always end
Where the moon shines bright every night
Where fireflies are forever bright
And snow on the mountaintops is a beautiful sight

Gonna go down to the river tonight
Gonna build me a sailboat in the moonlight
Gonna say "farewell" and sail out of sight
Gonna go down to the river tonight

Gonna sail in the stars' light
Heading to that little island in the night
Gonna get to the little island about midnight
Sail up the little river out of sight

Gonna take my sailboat apart under the moonlight
I won't need it any more
I have truly seen the light
I'm in the promised land tonight

True Stories of the Great Northwest

                            Best Friend

Riley Lincoln
West Palm Beach
December 2011

I was holding a pair of eights
And a pair of Aces, "Dead Man's Hand"
The man across laid down three jacks
He raked the pot into a big sack
I never will forget the grin on his face
  He laughed at my disgrace
I was left with not
  A cent in my poke
All I had left was "Old Rounder"
My best and only friend, a horse
Me and Rounder have been
  Together over many of year
Having a horse as your
  Best friend is very dear
We go caught in the
  "Great Winter of The North"
I had no money to feed my horse
  "Old Rounder", my only friend
There was no one to get a lend
  Times looked bad for
Old Rounder and me
It was snowing so hard we couldn't see
I ran into a stranger
  Who said take your horse
To the auction man, sell him
  And they will feed him
Catch the train over the mountains
  And down to the valley
And there will be lots of green
It's hard tto sell your best friend
But I didn't want to see him dead
I handed a man the reins
Turned and walked away in shame
Then another man hollered t me
He said the man who bought your horse
  Was the worst
Of any man around
  He won't feed your horse
He will let him freeze on the ground
  The train whistle blew
The conductor said "Last Call"
  "Last train out. Come all"
I got on board
  My tears froze as they
Slid down my face
  Through the snowflakes
I thought I saw Old Rounder
  Jump the fence
With my eyes half frozen
  I didn't know
So I just wished
Wind and snow began to harder blow
I stood on the back of the train
  Looking back
Down the track
Not a thing did I see
It seemed like a delerious dream to me
It took three days and three nights
With the wind blurring our sight
  We finally reached the top
Of the frozen mountain
The old train shuddered and shook
Started down the other side
  The speed was too great
I knew our fate
  It was too late
The train jumped the track
  It tumbled down the mountainside
Landed in the deep snow
  By the frozen river bank
I thought I had died
  I landed on my back
My legs I could not move
I was getting ready to say
My "sinner's prayer"
  I couldn't believe what I seen
It was Old Rounder looking down at me
  He looked like a skeleton
He had hurt his knee
He grabbed the sleeve of my coat
Started dragging me
  Down the frozen slope
Old Rounder slipped and fell
But got up and ignored the hell
The icy wind kept blowing
  And it kept on snowing
I couldn't take any more
  I couldn't take it anymore
I passed out while being dragged
  Through the ice and snow
When I awoke I was
In a field of flowers and grass
There were apple trees
  With the biggest apples
I ever did see
And next to me was Old Rounder
He was eating a big apple
  And Old Rounder was plump
As he could be
  Most beautiful thing
I ever did see
  And he wanted to play
We ran through the flowers
We ran through the valley of green
And played, ate big apples
  Ran through the stream
We stayed in the valley of green
Ate apples, took dips in the stream
Me and Old Rounder
  Are living our dream

I hope you read all my words
But most of all read between the lines
"Never leave a friend behind"

To My Wife of 53 Years                           From Your Man

Riley Lincoln Sr.
West Palm Beach
Dec 12th, 2012

Darling, the afternoon sun is getting low in the sky
The darkness is coming into our life
And soon we will have to say goodbye
It's time for us to go back
To where our love began
And not think about the end
Our love will be waiting for us
  As our new journey begins
The closer we get
  The happier we will be
The more family and friends we will see
And of course our pets there will be
We will be happy with glee
We will be together again, you will see

The Great Big Arctic Snow Butterfly

Riley Lincoln
West Palm Beach FL
October 2012

Hi, I'm the great big arctic snow butterfly
I'm flying down from Arctic Town
There's lots of snow falling all around
  I'm heading down to Okeechobee
Going down to see Chyna Marie
Chyna Marie and me gonna sing some song
And pound on the big Chinese gong
I'm going to give Chyna Marie
And Levon a ride in the sky
Because I'm the great big giant arctic snow butterfly
We are going to soar real high
Then we will go home and eat a cherry pie
Because I'm the great big giant arctic snow butterfly

We will fly to Grandfather's great jungle in West Palm Beach
There's no place we can't reach
Because I'm the great big giant arctic snow butterfly
And I can fly real high
We will hide in Grandfather's jungle
And look at the stars in the sky
Then we will say goodbye
And go home and eat another cherry pie
And pound the Chinese gong
  And dance all day long

THE GREAT BIG GIANT ARCTIC SNOW BUTTERFLY

                     Jake the Snake

Chyna Marie saw a little snake
A bad man tried to hit the snake with a rake
Chyna Marie saved the snake
Now it's her pet, his name is "Jake"
Sometimes she takes Jake the snake
Down the lane to the lake
Jake the snake is a good snake
  They play in the lake
Then they go home and Chyna Marie starts to bake
She bakes him a little cake
Chyna Marie loves Jake the snake

         By the Book

Yo can't go anywhere
If you go by the book
I'm not saying you gotta be a crook
  You just can't go anywhere
If you go by the book

Lying, cheating, and thieving
Gotta be part of you life
You can't go anywhere
If you go by the book

I'm not saying you gotta be a crook
  You just can't go anywhere
If you go by the book

Lying, cheating, and thieving
Gotta be part of your life
You gotta know when to heist them
  Know when to drop them
And know how to treat them just right
Know how to step away into the dark night

A hustler has got to be a little bright
Gotta know when to avoid the fight
And when she's ready to take flight
  Then disappears into the nighyt

Remember, the score isn't the money
  It's the afterwards delight
When you tell her to put another log on the fire
And tell her to raise her legs a little higher
This is what it's all about

You have the treasure for which many men have fought
  Because you learned
That you never win
If you play by the book
I'm not saying don't be a crook
I'm only saying you can win
If you go by  the book

                   Girl In the Tide

Riley Lincoln
WPB FL
August 2010

I was sitting, having a drink in the Oceanside bar
Listening to the waves coming in from afar
The man behind the bar said high tide will be coming in soon
Right on time--with a full moon

Then as the ocean's waves splashed at our feet
The door opened, a beautiful woman walked in looking for a seat
It was almost as if she came in with the tide
And I asked her to sit down by my side
Her eyes were as blue as the ocean
And her hair was blond just like the ocean's sand
After a few drinksw I reached over, I touched her hand
The feeling I got scared me to death...
It was like I could feel her every breath

She moved closer to me
And it was plain to see
That she cared for me
I never felt like this in all my life
Way back in my mind I thought "this is it,
  Maybe someday...my wife"
I ordered more drinks and we laughed
  As th night slipped away

My heart was beating so fast
I did not know what to say
Then the man behind the bar said
"the tide will be going out soon"
I looked out over the ocean and I saw no moon
For some reason I felt she would be leaving soon

Suddenly she got up and ran out of the room
She wasn't sitting next to me any more
She had run out of the door
She was runningh toward ther ocean with the tide going out
Then I began to understand and I started to shout
She ran into the ocean blue
The last words I was able to say were "I love you"

So my friends, if you are ever in the Oceanside bar
And high tide comes in from afar
Look over in the corner of the bar
You will see me sitting there looking at the door
Maybe she will come in one time more

                  Fate Explained

Part I  LIFE
Many of man has believed in fate since man has come on this planet.  Fate stamps your date of death on you when you are born. For some it's  a short date, some longer, and some real long. However long you live, your way of life makes no difference.  It's Fate that decides your death when you are born.

Part II   LOVE
Fate also stamps your love of someone else.  Your love affairs will be stamped with an end date when you first meet.  Some will be stamped a short time, some a long time, and some will be stamped forever.

Part III  BLUES
Along with life and love comes the blues.  When you get the blues they are stamped with a date also.  Sometimes blues will last for a long time, sometimes a short time.  Blues are marked when they begin.  Fate will  decide when they end.

Part IV  SUMMARY
Go ahead and enjoy life.  Have fun.  Fate has already taken care of your deathy.  Go ahead...fall in love again, and again, and again. Fate knows when to end.  When you get thr blues, don't worry. Fate is there...when it's time to end.
So go ahead, enjoy life and have fun.  Fate will take care of you, it truly has your back.  So if you get somewhere and don't know how you got there...IT WAS FATE.

No headlights to be seen in front
No headlights to be seen in back
Just you and me driving
  This old convertible
Down this dark road tonight
  Got the top down
And the stars are shining bright
  Got Dylan on the radio
Singing just so right
Sneakin' out to see Chyna Marie
Will get our breakfast for free
Then we w ill go out under  the tree
Watch the sun come up over the levee
  See beautiful Lake Okeechobee
Feel what it's like to be free
See the sunbeams shine through the tree
And decide they are for just you and me
Feel the breeze blow in off the lake
And feel why love is so great...
  ...our midnight ride
